Top Targets of AI-Driven Scams

ree

Last year alone, Americans over 60 lost more than $3.4 billion to fraud (according to AARP). These scams are often fueled by AI-generated robocalls, text messages or deepfake voicemails pretending to be loved ones.

What we all need to do right now is give older adults the tools to engage safely with technology, not fear it. Especially for those seniors who are reliant on social media and the web for their daily contact with loved ones, access to news and information, these fake communications also threaten their general sense of safety and understanding of the world around them.

At AI Human Ethics, we are developing hands-on workshops and educational experiences that break down ways to feel confident with phones, devices and platforms while avoiding scams. We aim to show them what is real, what is fake and how to easily spot the difference.

Through hands-on practice and real-world examples, participants gain both confidence and caution. The goal isn’t just digital literacy, it’s digital dignity. Let's help seniors feel empowered and protected in a world that’s rapidly changing.
