Preteens Are Growing Up With Deepfakes. Are They Ready?

It's become practically impossible to distinguish an AI-generated image from a real one

By age 12, more than 71% of kids own a smartphone (Common Sense Media) , putting them just one swipe away from AI-generated misinformation. As quickly as we, as their parents and guardians, are giving them these devices, we must also help them learn how to spot what's real and what’s been manipulated. There is so much convincing content out there, from doctored images to deepfake videos.

At AI Human Ethics, we are planning engaging, hands-on workshops that will challenge kids to explore how AI works, learn why it gets things wrong, and how to sharpen their own judgment in the digital world. Instead of fear-based lectures, we want to empower kids to become truth-seekers. And just as important is giving them tools and strategies they can share with family and friends. Because while technology keeps evolving, critical thinking is still our best defense.

Be sure to check back soon to sign up for one of our preteen workshops or watch our videos with your child.
